Wise in the MEA Economy

Consumers have an important role in economic activity. Why is that? Because with the consumer, goods and services sold or traded will be purchased or even sold out by consumers to meet the needs and satisfy the desire so that the seller can earn money and gain profit. In the face of the current economic era of the MEA (ASEAN Economic Community), we must be a wise consumer for the money we have to provide a greater 'profit' to us. In fact, we are often unwise as consumers we both realize and do not realize.

To be a wise consumer in facing the economy of the MEA era, we first have to buy as needed instead of desire; to abandon the culture of consumptive behavior is not the stuff that controls you but you are the master of your desire to buy goods or services. Think again, do you really need the goods or just want to buy only talkative. Furthermore, ensuring the product as per the quality standard (SNI); because the products marked with SNI give more assurance of the health, safety and safety of consumers, even the environment. Not only that, the product labeled SNI is an environmentally friendly product. Then, before purchasing the product, try checking whether the label is still sealed neatly or may have been damaged. After that take a few minutes to read the product information usually printed on the back of the pack. Note also the time of expiration to be careful of items that enter the body or that are used outside / over the body. Because the goods are closely related to aspects of health, safety and safety (K3L) consumers. And finally, make the domestic product as the main choice; Domestic products produced by the nation's children are also not less competitive with many imported products into the country. Loving here does not mean you should not be consuming imported products at all. However, more selective in buying imported products, if the domestic products have the same quality with competitive prices why not use domestic products only. If all consumers have such an attitude, then the nation's economy can be saved.

When the MEA is over, we have to position ourselves whether to be swept away or to follow the flow but not drift? As a wise consumer it is fitting we take a firm stance in order to protect ourselves and the family from the things that are not desirable due to free trade. And keep in mind that our role as a consumer is very large as an agent of change and policy makers. So be a wise consumer right now in order to contribute to a healthy and dynamic nation economy.
